Estimation of body weight and body condition score in dairy cows by digital image analysis method

چکیده
In this study the body weight (BW) and condition score (BCS) of lactating cows was estimated by using conventional (CM) digital image analysis methods (DIAM). BCS is an important factor to facilitate different practices management in dairy cattle. A total 204 Holstein live images were taken remote shutter camera. Six measurements such as heart girth (HG), wither height (WH), hip (HH), length (BL), front hip-width (FHW), back (BHW) used for assessment BW CM DIAM. The estimation CBW HG, FHW, BL variables effective (R2 = 0.75). However, all ineffective (MBCS), 0.06, conventional) DBCS 0.05, digital) estimation. WH, BHW, precise DBW 0.77). No significant differences found across (CM, DIAM) measurements. intra-class reliability coefficient (ICC) (MBW, DBW) “good” “excellent” between estimations. This indicates that DIAM a reliable method determining MBW, can be interchanged effectively with CM.

Influence of Body Condition Score on Yield and Composition of Milk in Crossbred Dairy Cows
The study was carried out for a period of 150 days on 120 Holstein Friesian crossbred dairy cows between mid to late lactation to quantify the influence of body condition score (BCS) on yield and composition of milk. Total 12 dairy farms having same housing systems and holding at least 20 crossbred dairy cows per farm between mid to late lactation were selected for this study purposes. BCS of i...

متن کاملAssociation between body condition score and live weight in pasture-based Holstein-Friesian dairy cows.
The objective was to quantify the strength of the relationship between body condition score (BCS) and live weight (LW) in pasture-based Holstein-Friesian dairy cattle, and to determine the kg LW per unit BCS. A total of 26021 test-day records with information on both BCS (1-10 scale, where 1 is emaciated and 10 is obese) and LW across 1110 lactations from one research farm were used in the anal...
متن کاملBody condition score and live-weight effects on milk production in Irish Holstein-Friesian dairy cows.
The objective of the present study was to quantify the relationships among body condition score (BCS; scale 1 to 5), live weight (WT) and milk production in Irish Holstein-Friesian spring calving dairy cows. Data were from 66 commercial dairy herds during the years 1999 and 2000. The data consisted of up to 9886 lactations with records for BCS or WT at least once pre-calving, or at calving, nad...
